Mike, I make a habit of plugging in my ems to the pedistal before connecting the line to my RV and then energizing it from the CB. My thinking is if there is an issue the ems will through an error code. Is this a good practice or am I risking the ems and should I be using a multi meter instead?
Under all normal miswiring conditions your EMS should be safe. However, I think that using a NCVT to confirm that the pedestal box itself isn’t electrically hot would be a good idea.
