A video of the 50A plug replacement procedure would be most helpful. While I have done this several times, I would like to know how a professional would approach this task and if there are any tricks to it I have yet to figure out!
Thanks for all your helpful articles. You are providing a great, sometimes life saving, service to your RV followers.
In the photo provided I would like to see a little more copper wire protruding from the connection and some outside insulation showing at the cable clamp area.
I agree. That was a stock photo I found. Most of the pictures that show up in a google search are unclear or just plane wrong. I’ll do a step-by-step DIY video soon.
I am a 69 year young RVer lady. I watched our best friend/mechanic replace out RV plug. It is not “rocket science “. I could do it myself if needed in the future.
Buying a new Cord is a lot easier than replacing a Plug. I tried to reuse a bad 50 Amp Cord with a new Male Connector and after an HOUR gave up trying to get all 4 large gauge wires of different lengths under the 4 clamps.
Yes, it’s easier just to buy a new shore power cord. And yes it’s a bit tricky to install a new plug. That’s why I should probably make an installation video. Then you all can decide for yourself if you want to tackle the job… 😁
