Mike, did you find a fix for this? The recall was supposedly completed on our 2024 3500hd silverado but it seems to have made the problem worse. We also do not know how to disconnect our solar panels or install an off switch. Fyi, we are in Northeast Pennsylvania.

I was told by GMC tech support that they didn’t need my help and they had a fix for it. Sorry…

Yeah, GM thinks they have a fix, but we are proof their fix does not work in every instance. We tried a diode, but think our technician used the incorrect type. We are going to install a roadmaster 690 parking light diode and see if that fixes it at least temporarily until GM owns up to really fixing it. Seems that particular diode has worked for others. Any suggestions as to how to easily disconnect the juice pack while traveling? We have a 2021 cherokee arctic wolf, but do not have many electrical skills.

I have a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 and recently had the same brake disconnect problem.

Mike, I sent you an email at your address that you gave.

No, soonest appointment with a gm dealer end of month April. I disconnected the Sealed lead acid battery on the trailer tongue for the brake away system and That fixed the disconnect problem for the most part. I've towed my boat 1400 miles since beginning of February

Brand new 2024 2500 HD, only towing a boat with electric over hydraulic disc brakes and I am getting the same issue. I'm going to disconnect the trailer brake battery and see if the issue stops. That might help when I take it to the Dealer April 26. Soonest they could get me in.

What chemistry is your boat trailer brake battery? I believe most are now SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) or AGM. While possible, I’ve never seen Lithium as a trailer brake battery. Anything else I should know about?

Hi Mike, new 2024 chevy silverado 2500 6.6 gas. Lithium only wouldn't accept my truck. Went round and round with dealer. Talked to Airstream, they are aware of issue with new chevy trucks. My old 7 way had the type with 2 blade plug and said to go with single blade 7 way. it worked but truck still throwing codes but not disconnecting brakes. will add dc-dc charger to get batteries charging 100% when driving. Deaier wants to see if dc-dc helps with codes. Airstream also said 7 way receiver on new trucks is a little bigger and that is why the single blade 7way works better with new trucks

Just a thought. I wrote you that I have a 2019 2500 Chevrolet. We have the brake controller problem too often that I have filed a complaint with the NHTSC and they have contacted me twice with questions. We do NOT have lithium batteries or solar. Another fly in the ointment. On another forum there is info that AC Delco relay #20904439 under the spare tire is the problem. GOOD LOCK

Mike, my brother-in-law just bought a new Chevrolet 3500 diesel. When they hooked up to their Lance trailer it wouldn’t accept the trailer. I unhooked the solar and they were able to get home with the brakes working. The dealer changed the plug connection on the truck. It has been fine since. I don’t know if the dealer did a software update. Very puzzling.
