Do Electric Vehicles, EV’s have similar crash battery disconnect technologies, as they contain more chemical energy than a 12V battery for a starter motor?

I’m not sure, but I can ask…

Interesting.

Is there also a role for fireball extinguishers, or automatic fire extinguishers such as the Jogsowall? Are they also effective with electrical fires? What is the impact of battery chemistry?

Back in the 1980's, after seeing a Corvette burn to it's frame, I kept a fire extinguisher behind the seat of my Opel GT. After a long hot sunny day at work in Louisiana, I discovered the extinguisher had self-discharged. I don't think I ever got all that powder out of the carpet and headliner.

I’ve played with Protang tube extinguishers a bit, and that’s a possibility for my seminars.

It appears many vehicles have emergency flashers activated in the event of a crash. Would a battery disconnect prevent the flashers? As a volunteer firefighter, this raises an interesting question. What is better, flashers or a battery disconnect?

According to the article, this disconnect terminal shuts off all power EXCEPT for the 4-way flashers and door locks. And I think it turns on the 4-way flashers automatically when the air bags deploy. Those German engineers think of everything...

What about power windows, in case door is jammed that it won't open, possibly the windows would provide an escape.?

I think the power windows would still have power, but I’ll confirm.

I could see that being a great safety upgrade for an RV. It could be connected to a series of heat detectors located throughout the coach. A friends high end 43 foot All steel RV caught fire due to short. The fire service put it out and an hour later it went up again. It had a HUGE battery back

And Bluetooth linked heat detectors would be easy to install.

Yes, there’s a huge amount of stored energy in RV battery banks. Steve and I are discussing this…
