I have a question and am not sure where to post it. This article seems like a good place. I just read an article about a device called a CarGenerator. It is essentially an inverter in a weatherproof package that allows you to generate 120 volts from your car's alternator. The article said that you could use it to charge your RV's batteries by connecting your shore power cord to the CarGenerator and using the RV charger to top off your batteries. This means that the CarGenerator will take 12 volts and convert it to 120 volts. Connecting it to shore power means that power flows through the automatic transfer switch, surge protector, and 120 amp house battery charger to charge the house batteries.

After reading the article, I thought, "Why can't I connect my house batteries to my car using jumper cables?" Both systems are 12 volts. The alternator puts out 150 or so amps which is more than the 120 amp house charger in the motorhome. Am I missing something? Have you evaluated the CarGenerator?
