Dear Mike: Thanks for your excellent presentation at Alumapalooza. We were ready to order a lithium battery but our son has some reservations about safety. He said, for example, that he cannot use a lithium battery in his plane because the FAA said it tends to explode.
Part of the confusion is people tend to call them Lithium Batteries rather than specifying which chemistry: Lithium Ion, Lithium Iron Phosphate, Lithium Titanate, Lithium AA, etc.
I commonly get packages labeled as hazardous when all they contain is: "Energizer Ultimate Lithium" double or triple A's which are not rechargeable.
