We were staying in a RV park in Mississippi a few years ago. The motorhome next to us started up his generator, soon our power shut off. This happened another time then the gentleman came out of his motorhome and unplugged from the pedestal. His ATS obviously wasn’t working, fortunately our Shurguard was.
I notice that many or most generators are inverter generators. Mine is not, and I'm concerned about the quality of power I'm generating. Is it possible/practical to convert my generator to pure sine generation. Will the msw I'm now generating do damage to my electronics?
A contractor non-inverter generator does not have a Modified Sine Wave output. It naturally wants to make a pure sine wave. However, voltage regulation on a non-inverter generator can be pretty poor, and the 60 Hz frequency won’t be stable. What brand and model generator do you have?
Some RVs with generators don't have transfer switches. I have seen some that have a (usually 30 amp) female receptacle mounted near where the shore power cord is. Instead of plugging into a pedestal, the RVer plugs the shore power cord into the generator outlet. Since the RV is completely self contained, it's impossible to connect to a generator and pedestal at the same time.

Thanks!

Yes, I’ve seen a few of them as well. Sort of a “Manual” transfer switch.😁
Exactly.
