Exactly what I did and I carry some parachute cord to tie it up so there is no strain on the male plug. A little tip… If making up your own cord, if you have to twist the conductors you are putting the plugs on the wrong side, that’s correct the male and female plugs are constructed so the conductors go straight in without crossing them over each other.

That was what I was asking about but I found a TT-30R recepacle on Amazon that has the ground at the bottom and a corresponding cord. This arrangement also locks on.

Would this be legal?

I have seen you recommend a "Smart Plug". They don't seem to make an angled attachment so that I can lower the compartment door on my PleasureWay. I was thinking about installing a 30 amp plug in my RV( like the plug at the post). Then my cord would have 2 30 Amp male plugs. Would this work and where can I get a weatherproof plug?. It seems to me contact-wise this would have as much contact area as the " Smart Plug" Thanks.

If I understand you correctly you’re suggesting a male-to-male shore power cord. If that’s the case it’s what we call a suicide cord which is dangerous as well as illegal. Or is your plan different than what I’m envisioning?
