What kind of RV refrigerator do you have?
Is your RV equipped with a propane, 120-volt AC or 12-volt DC fridge? Or maybe you don't have a refrigerator at all. Please take this poll and let me know...
Everyone,
The article I published last week from Chris Dougherty (THE RV PHD) got me thinking about the different types of RV refrigerators. Read his article on absorption refreigerators HERE.
What’s the mix?
So what’s the percentage of propane, 120-volt AC and 12-volt DC refrigerators in RVs? Up until 10 years ago or so, the answer would have been almost exclusively propane/electric.
I then saw a big jump in residential refrigerators being installed in large RVs, which sometimes became complicated to service since changing one out could involve removing the windshield or pulling the slide out with a towmotor.
More recently 12-volt DC refrigerators with a Danfoss type compressor have been getting more popular, especially with the increase in RV Lithium Batteries and Solar Panels. These Danfoss compressors run off 12-volts DC directly, so there’s no need for an inverter to step up the 12-volt DC battery power to 120-volts AC.

Let’s play safe out there… Mike
Opted for "propane/electric" choice, it's actually a 3-way, but figured 12V is still electric!
I have JC Refrigeration Conversion, Norcold 1095 to 12 volt Compressor.
