Thanks for that Mike. Can you explain what the 'joule' rating refers to in the surge protection devices. I see a range of 1050 to 2400. There is also a maximum surge rating of 22,500 joules.
Mike, thanks for all the info. I can't find the replacement surge protection module for the Surge Guard products. The only module that comes up is for the Hughes watchdog. Do you have a source?
The Surge Guard products do not have a field replaceable MOV module, but IIRC they will replace the entire unit under warranty. And yes, the Hughes Watchdog module is field replaceable.
I have been using the 50 amp Surge Guard EMS system since 2016 and would not trade it for most many others. I removed the installed equipment on my 2020 motorhome due to it not being as good as the Surge Guard and installed it inside the MH. The Surge Guard has saved me twice that I know of, once with an extremely low 102 volts and also a high voltage on one leg of a little over 142 volts. Both times nearby MH’s of higher quality with installed systems never tripped off (scary situations)
All of my Surge Guard Protectors power up in less than 10 seconds. Please send more info to evaluate if there’s a problem.
Can piggie back a surge guard with the soft start plug in unit.
Yes, as long as the SurgeGuard is plugged into the pedestal first, then plug the SoftStart into the SurgeGuard.
Thanks Mike, this may be a product for all the generator folks for sure.

Yes, that's a great idea for a future newsletter. Please Stand By...

I have a Surge Guard 34750 that came on my 2006 MH and it takes 5 minutes to come on after I plug her in! I wonder if I should worry about this.
