As one with other 18,000 hours of flying as a pilot, the round rainbow is called the "Pilot's Halo" or the "Pilot's Glory." You will see the outline of the airplane in the middle of the rainbow.
The other thing I liked to do was takeoff from the east just after sunset and then as we climb to altitude make a PA that they will see an unusual sight seeing the sun rise in the west. The sun will appear to rise several degrees above the western horizon. Pretty cool!
Hi Mike I to have had my share of lost items, but I have a totally different approach something I learned from the TV show CSI (Crime Scene Investigators)! They would be looking for clues at a crime scene & would have their flashlights out looking for whatever & they would find it. I adopted that exact principle when I have misplaced something. When you shine a flashlight at something you eyes look exactly where the light beam is & not to either side. It has worked for me since I started using that technique, however sometime I can’t find the dam flashlight & that really makes me mad! I would hope you would give the CSI flashlight a try & you’ll find that dang screwdriver!
Nice, thank you.
Very nice piece Mike, well written!
Thanks for the thoughtful and insightful piece.
I saw a circular rainbow in a blue sky while standing on beach in Ventura ca. Never saw again......
