Great article Mike! Good reminder about all the ways that space heaters can fail. The “fuzzies” discussion reminded me of something I learned watching a YouTube video about hybrid battery maintenance that might be helpful to folks. Hybrid batteries in Toyota Prius’s generate heat and have a cooling fan equipped with a filter. The filter can get clogged with fuzz and cut off or restrict air flow needed to cool the battery thus reducing its life. The filter’s I’ve cleaned were were quite dirty. They are located under the back seat near the wall on the passenger side of the car. I would assume this might apply to other hybrid and possibly EV vehicles as well and is worth checking out. I’ve owned several hybrids and had never heard about the hybrid battery air filter and the need to keep it clean. As we know, those batteries are very expensive to replace.

Our “tip over safe” ceramic space heater is never on when we go to bed or leave our rig.
