GM Brake Controller Failure: Prototype Update
I still haven't found a test vehicle within driving distance from me. So I'm ready to ship the prototype to anyone who wants to test it.
Dear Readers,
A few months ago I published an article about 2024 GMC/Chevy 2500HD and 3500HD trucks shutting down their onboard trailer brake controllers randomly. I think I know why this is happening. Please read more about it HERE.
GM won’t help me…
As I noted earlier, GM won’t loan me a 2500HD to test, and I can’t find a reader with the problem within driving distance from me in Maryland. For a look at my first article with the prototype update, read it HERE.
I need your help… and I’ll ship you the prototype
While I would prefer being there myself for the test, unless you’re within a day’s drive of Maryland, I’ll ship you the prototype so you can do your own test. But I’ll still need to supervise this test remotely.
So if you have a 2024 GM HD 2500 or 3500 truck and an RV with a Lithium battery and Solar that disconnects the brakes regularly, please contact me at mike (at) noshockzone (dot) org to discuss doing a test yourself.
Thanks for your help. And let’s play safe out there… Mike
Mike,
I am having a problem with a 2024 GMC 3500 that will not activate the hydraulic brakes when gain is at my normal 4 to 4.5. If I raise the gain to 10 it will activate the pump using the manual activation. I am working with the local GMC folks who have filed the complaint with corporate GMC but we have not been able to get the engineer here to help. Has anyone tested your prototype? I would be glad to test it for you. Bill Northcutt, Gainesville FL. Email is c3c@cox.net
My Chevy dealer has a replacement part to fix this. Will be installed on Wednesday……fingers crossed!
