Many appliances won’t care if there’s a floating neutral. But modern refrigerators and some residential furnaces have a ground monitor circuit and will refuse to power up on a floating neutral generator. But a bonding plug corrects that issue.
And mine is not a Inverter Generator, it is a DuroMax XP4400EH Dual Fuel Portable Generator-4400 Watt Gas or Propane Powered Electric Start. The manual says I need to use a grounding rod.
The manual was written by lawyers. A grounding rod is not required by the NEC for a portable generator unless it’s distributing power to multiple locations.
Does the same apply if just connecting appliances to the portable Generator. My Generator has a floating Neutral. Forgive me if I butchered that
