Mike, this is the replacement heating element. But that's not the same as an "anode". i.e., the replaceable sacrificial rod that some heaters have, correct? I had a Dometic but now have a Suburban, which shows an anode. They say to replace it annually.
Correct… the heating element has two wires attached, while the Anode rod isn’t connected to any power. But some water heaters don’t have a sacrificial anode rod. If they do have an anode rod many manufacturers recommend you replace it annually, but your mileage may vary…😁

I tape an index card with words “do not turn on” to the control switch and also turn the breaker off with a similar card over it.
