I’m not sure since Honda states you can only parallel their generators within a certain serial number range. But it is an interesting question.

I have a Champion inverter generator and according to their web site, looks like they can support paralleling dissimilar units.

WOW! According to their selector program, you can parallel their Lithium Power Station with one of their gasoline inverter generators. That’s really cool. But I’m not sure about mixing different brands of generators. 🧐

Interesting, ultimately the national power grid is made up of many mismatched generators. Our backup generators that were made up of diesel engine driven (submarine engines) and newer gas turbine generators were of mismatched output were run once a month and paralleled to our main generators and ultimately to the grid. Everything worked fine as long as we made sure each were synchronized before closing their independent breaker.

Mike, I have a Honda 2000i & a 2200i. With the right serial numbers, they will match, no problem. Per Honda.

Mike, I've read not to connect different sizes. What about the same size from different manufacturers. I have a ryobi. It appears that the same panel and face plate on the predator is identical.

It would be interesting to know if there is any actual communication or negotiation of any kind between paralleled generators, or do they simply act as parallel DC batteries and supply power based on voltage drop.

They seem to work on voltage drop and phase of the 60-Hz sine waves. So it’s a bit more complicated than paralleling batteries…
