What about batteries that only differ in brand or physical size but have the same Li chemistry? Example: type 27 100 Ahr LiPO4 and mini 100 Ahr LiPO4 or Battleborn 100 Ahr LiPO4 and Renology 100 Ahr LiPO4?
Because so many are using lithium batteries now, you should address whether this issue applies to them as well. I think I was told by my lithium manufacturer that I could add another lithium battery to my bank a year or so later.
Yes, I’ve spoken to a few Lithium battery manufacturers and now understand how connecting different age Lithium batteries from the same manufacturer works. It took a bit of digging with their engineers, but I know enough to publish a basic tutorial on it.
Rather than connecting the batteries in parallel, one could use a single pole double pole switch to select one or the other for charging or discharging. The person asking the question had space for only one large and one small battery so a selector switch would allow both batteries to be used safely.
