Mike, why do you think generators do not come equipped with a ground to neutral bonding switch? They could even label it to indicate that the unbounded position is for powering a home (or bonded load) and the bonded position powering an RV (or into fed load). Seems like that would make life easier for everyone. I also wonder if they could include sone smarts to check for a bond automatically and create a bond if it doesn’t sense one? I assume there is a reason this isn’t done and would like to hear what it is.

I do know something about the history of why inverter generators have floating neutrals, but it’s fairly involved so it will need to be a full-length article that I can factcheck. All I can say right now is that it involves UL and GFCI requirements. More on this later…

For home it depends on appliances.

Currently my new fridge does not function on a unbounded Inverter generator. Have a small EU2200 Honda.
