Once I get these chargers up on the bench I’ll know a little more how they operate. Plus I’ll ask Battery Tender engineers some of your questions. Should be interesting. 🧐
I have several Deltran battery tenders on classic cars. They seem to float around 14.1-2. I was in Menards recently and picked up their Performax 260-9539 “float charger” on a whim and was surprised the instructions said to disconnect after full charge.
Was going to try it and see if it floats at 14.1 ish.
Something doesn't sound right, I have an older Deltran (I believe it is 4 or 5 amps) connected to a pair of group 65 FLA batteries in my truck and it always floats at 13.2-13.3. 14.1 to 14.2 definitely is not a float voltage for FLA
I'm a Harbor Freight fan. I have used theirs on my motorcycles and my Nash 18FM two 6 bolt AGM batteries with great success! Test theirs as well if you please. They are only 5-6 bucks!
I used a Battery Tender trickle charger for six months each year on a car I stored in my garage while I traveled. Each summer I had to replace the battery because it would no longer hold an adequate charge. I also noticed that battery seemed quite warm after being on the charger for 24 hours. I contacted the company and was told the warm battery was most likely the result of a bad battery and could not be a problem with their charger. After three years (and three battery replacements, two of which were one-year old batteries) I switched to the Battery Minder trickle charger that also has a desulfate feature. My most recent battery is now four years old and still works like it did when new. I would like to encourage you to evaluate the Battery Minder charger along with the Battery Tender charger for a long-term comparison. My experience with both brands of trickle charger are with the same vehicle, stored in the same conditions each winter. Don
I Second the Battery Minder brand. Having had almost the same experience. My pick-up batteries would only last a week, sitting in the garage, before being too low to start, then I’d have to hook up the Battery Tender. I switched to Battery Minder just for the desulfating feature. I can now go a full month with 7 year old batteries.
Can either of these two units recharge lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO₄) and too, if a lithium iron phosphate battery BMS has gone into protect due to deep discharge (run hard and put away wet for the season in a discharged state) can either reset the BMS and recover a dead lithium iron phosphate battery and its cells?
I currently have have an old golf cart (36 volt) with new batteries, (6) 6 vdc. I'd love to find a battery tender designed for the 36v system or can I install (3) tenders, grouping into 12vdc segments w/o disconnecting the jumpers?
I currently charge my 6 volt’s individually. I have in the past done them together with unequal results. I’ve found both batteries never seem to match exact voltage no which way I charge them
.Now my Diesel truck ( wired in parallel) just gets the driver side hooked up. Currently they have been testing exactly the same.*
My 2/6 volt batteries are currently 7 years old
My 2/12 volt truck batteries are new
My 6 volts have never tested the exact same voltage ( +-.2)
Are these for sale or under development? I frequently go on long trips and leave my cars hooked up to Battery Tenders. It’s a real pain to run wires and thread the cables into the hood area. It’s also not desirable to have extension corded running around the driveway when I am away for a long trip. I can’t keep my cars in a garage so I’d really would like to have a solar Battery Tender that could sit on the dash inside the car and plug into a cigarette lighter receptacle. However, my receptacles are not powered when the ignition is off. Has anyone figured out a way to solve this problem?
Doug, you don’t mention what type of vehicle you have. My 12V cig lights (power supplies) are also not powered with the vehicle off, EXCEPT the one in the cargo department of my SUV, which is always hot.
Hi Mike, I'm curious how the charger knows which battery it's charging? Or does it just put a little charge in each battery? Does it charge 1 and when 1 is full, go to the next battery? I have 4 of the 6 volt golf cart style batteries. Or, do you need a charger for each battery? I also have 2- 12 volt engine batteries.

I have two 6v flooded GC batteries. I regularly charge them with my battery charger set to the 6V manual setting. Never had a problem.

Hi Mike. I have 6 12v AGM batteries i charge with a Battery Tender 3-8 and 15 ampcharger with a Auto Mode. How should I hook up the charger? Thanks

Just a many year satisfied user of the product. Agricultural equipment and radio hobby single 6 and 12 volt flooded lead acid.
Never boiled a battery, I'll admit to not monitoring voltage on a regular basis, I do check electrolyte level.
One warranty return, easy process.
I do have a several year marine Costco battery with a full time charger, Ill post voltage next week. It runs my ham radio.

Thank you, I sure appreciate all you do!!
Did they give you any indication of what they claim or expect when charging a dual battery system?
