My thought too is do not assume every RV owner understands the hazards of using dog bone adapters or cheater plugs that do not match the current rating of their 20, 30, or 50-amp RV’s to connect to RV park and campground receptacles. Two wrongs do not make a right.

How many licensed electricians have wired up 30amp RV outlets as 240v? Trust but verify!

I know that some electricians do electrical work under the license of another licensed electrician. And in that case, perhaps there is a greater chance of errors being made.

Mike,

In earlier discussions you have mentioned that 15 & 20 amp GFCI receptacles that you dissected had identical innards with the face being the only thing different but are you finding that other 20 amp receptacles are built differently inside than their 15 amp brothers of the same brand and style? Or are you referring to hospital grade and commercial backwire devices?

15 and 20-amp plugs and receptacles of the same brand have virtually identical contact areas. But contractor and hospital grade receptacles are generally more robust and should withstand more insertion cycles.
