I use a IR thermometer to check wheel bearings. This is much smaller an easy multi purpose.. Have use Klien tools professionally for years. Thanks for the info.
The NCVT-4IR detects AC voltage down to 12 volts for HVAC diagnostics, this will cause a lot of false positives and confusion amongst novice users IMHO. I wish they made it in the standard version, or a switchable version.
I have used this NCVT to identify a hot skin on our 5th wheel trailer several years ago. We had the female power connector replaced on our trailer while still under warranty. The dealer's technician installed the neutral wire on the wrong side of the locking screw. After, removing the female connection from the trailer, I noticed the wire moving. I completely removed the connection from the cable, reinstall all the wires in the correct side of the lugs.
Yes, the power was unplugged from the power panel and the trailer before removing the connection from the trailer.

Does anyone know what the 12V range on the NCVT function in this tool is used for in HVAC applications?
That’s typically for 12 to 24-volt control circuits, but I’ll know more after I get one to test after the Hershey RV show next week.
