It would be interesting to learn more about how electric shock drowning (ESD) compares to this land based analog in terms of what is known about how it works, where it has been observed, and the statistics of injury and death. With all of the wells and not to code working out there it must be happening at some frequency. Please let us know if you have or ever get more info to share. Doug M.

Thanks for the question. I’ll go more in-depth on ESD (Electric Shock Drowning) incidents later, but this is a great opportunity to share the accidents from a decade ago that got me interested in studying and writing about electrical safety.
I also have a long history of dealing with shock hazards dating back to the early ‘70s when I first began playing (and getting shocked) in rock bands…
