Update on my "tech level" survey!
Wow! Lots of you responded to my recent poll on how deep you want my articles to be...
Survey Update:
Wow! I took survey yesterday on how advanced you would like my RVelectricity articles to be, and over 1,100 of you have responded so far… You can read the full article and continue to vote and add your comments HERE.
Just the numbers
As you can see, 62% of you asked for more intermediate level articles which include troubleshooting theory. I think that’s a great tech level for these articles since it offers a lot of education on just how things work. And that can help you the next time something stops working on your RV.
22% of you want the hard stuff!
Yes, I can get pretty complex at times, but that’s just how my brain works. I’ve been studying and experimenting with electricity since I was four years old, and I’m still learning new things every week.
But 8% of my readers still need the basics…
I’ve found that many new RV owners never learned the basics, so I’ll continue to post articles on the introductory principles of RV hookups and operation.
I’ll still go deep once a month!
Yes, my favorite level to write is for engineers. And since there’s 8% of you who want super technical articles, I’ll still do that around once a month. There’s lots to write about since I’m doing a lot of testing for manufacturers, so as long as it doesn’t conflict with my NDA’s I’ll be able to write about my latest findings.
How about a Difficulty Level Meter?
Would you like a Difficulty Level meter like one of these at the top of each article? That way you can see how deep I’m going before you commit time to reading the entire post.
Why I teach basic troubleshooting theory rather than just answer questions…
Let’s play safe out there… Mike
I have a RV QC 5500 Onan gen set that run perfectly but I am not getting voltage to the circuit breaker. Breaker are good just not getting voltage to them. Is there a way to test ECU and regulator to see which is bad?
Wow Mike
Your idea of the meter showing the level of difficulty is terrific!
And how about a simplified version of your energy comparison on propane versus battery that you did several years ago.
I’ve shared it many times but it often seems to need some clarification with new RVers.
