The RV-PHD has moved 10/1/24
New website offers more ability to customize content and a better experience for all…
Everyone,
News from one of my writing and instructor colleagues, Chris Dougherty (aka The RV-PHD). He’s moving his SubStack Newsletter to a new website RV-PHD.com which will cover a plethora of RV related topics. It’s a free (non-paid) site that that will include advertising, so there’s no cost to join. Chris is a great writer and instructor, so I suggest you check out his new website and subscribe if it looks interesting to you. And who knows, I might even show up as a guest writer on RV-PHD occasionally.

On October 1st, Chris Dougherty (aka The RV-PHD) transitioned his SubStack newsletter to a new website format that will allow for more editorial flexibility while still allowing him to provide great educational and entertaining content moving forward. RVing should be fun, and that’s what we’re striving for in this new format while still keeping the solid unbiased technical content that you have come to expect.
The newsletter from RV-PHD will be switching to Mailchimp effective immediately. Everyone who has a current free subscription will continue to get mailings from us through that service. Everyone who has a current PAID subscription will receive a pro-rated refund within the next few days, processed by Stripe.
SUBSCRIPTIONS TO THE NEW NEWSLETTER ARE FREE OF CHARGE.
Why are you moving?
The Substack system is great for some things, but not for what we’re doing. The goal has always been to provide a learning opportunity for RVers and techs in the RV space. That’s what we’ll do on the new website. Substack limits links to outside vendors, and especially Amazon, and we don’t want that for our readers. Secondly, we want this information available to all RVers, and the Substack model significantly restricts who could get what. Now, I pay for the site, not the subscribers.
What else is coming?
I have designed new associated sites that will add video and more social media content to be developed in the near future. I have also opened up the possibility of having other technical and/or lifestyle contributors. A section of the new website will have new industry news, updated daily, by our partners at RVBusiness. There’s more, but I can’t let it all out here!
Do I still get access to all the previous content I subscribed for?
YES! All the current substack content is on the new site. Nothing you need to do.
Can I cancel if I want to?
Of course, but I hope you won’t! Current and new subscribers will have that option through the unsubscribe button in the Mailchimp email. All links to this Substack will end this week. But remember, subscriptions will now be free.
Will the new site have ads?
Yes, we will be utilizing Google Ads, as well as occasional other ads and sponsorships from time to time. In the best journalistic practice, all sponsored content will be marked as such. If we review or recommend a product, the recommendation will be unbiased. All sponsors or advertisers must agree that reviews are unbiased and that if a product is criticized, it will be shared. Amazon links will be used to illustrate products or recommendations. A commission will be earned on those links if used for a purchase at no additional cost to the buyer.
THANK YOU for being an RV-PHD subscriber, and here’s to a great 2025!
