My upcoming MotorTrend Podcast
That’s right… I’ve been invited as a guest on the InEVitable podcast next month.
Golly gee...
In two weeks I’ll be in Beverly Hills at the PodcastOne studio as a guest on MotorTrend’s The InEvitable podcast.
What will we be discussing?
Jonny Lieberman and I will be talking about the challenges and future possibilities of towing an RV trailer with an EV truck or SUV. I’ll also tell what I know about the Airstream eSteam and Lippert Edison trailers. Plus I have a lot of things to discuss about the latest Class-B EV vans.
And this isn’t just about the lost range issues. We’ll also talk about charging challenges with a trailer on the road and in campgrounds, as well as the needed upgrades to the US power grid. And I’m studying up on all the challenges of finding enough Lithium to build the batteries needed for eventually converting from ICE to EV technology.
And no, I’m not sold on the idea that the EV manufacturers have this all figured out. There appears to be a lot of smoke and mirrors involved in current EV marketing. Time to dig deep!
Yes, I’m a Motörhead!
You all know me as an electrical guy, but in the ‘70s I was a real car nut. I built a few dune buggies, put a Corvair turbocharged engine in a VW Beetle, and hot-rodded every kind of engine from Volkswagen, Alpha Romeo and Triumph, as well as small and big-block engines from Ford and Chevy. I also assisted with a full rebuild of a Mack Truck diesel when I was 16 years old. I’ve been doing this stuff forever, it seems.
Tooling around Beverly Hills in a Rivian R1T truck
If all goes as planned I’ll also get some cruise time in a Rivian R1T truck on the streets of Beverly Hills. As you probably know, this is the place to see exotic cars, and I’ll bet there will be lots of other eye candy to watch. I’ll bring my camera!
When will this podcast drop?
I’m not sure of the exact date this will hit the streets, but it should be ready to stream by the end of February. So go ahead and subscribe to The InEvitable on your Podcasting App, and I’ll let you all know when I have the release date.
Let’s charge safe out there - Mike
That’s exciting Mike! As a retired EE in power plants and my last years in distribution/transmission I will attest that at least the distribution network is in jeopardy, (at least in my area) of carrying the load in the near future. Also state governments and what looks like the Federal Government banning sales of gas stoves (if it stops there) then we will be in real trouble. My biggest concern is what will be provided for the millions of people that live in condos, apartments, and inner city housing without having access to a garage or rear parking areas. Without a good plan to beef up the network and install reliable 24/7 power production we may be in for dark times!
Nice to hear your a gear head. Interesting to see your views on EV's and that your from MD. I'm just down the road in Damascus. I enjoy your work. Thanks
