I'm relaunching my RVelectricity Newsletter
Including new weekly content on RV electrical usage and safety
From the Beginning
Many of you already know me from my RVelectricity articles on RVtravel.com and NoShozkZone.org. I’ve been writing articles for the RV industry since 2010, and also writing and teaching seminars for the Pro-Sound industry since the early ‘80s. But my study of electricity goes back at least 60 years, so there’s lots for me to write about.
SubStack will be a great place for me to reprint many of the thousands of my previously published articles, as well as write about topics that may not fit in my other publications. I typically write something every day, so this will be a lot of fun.
Who needs to follow this?
If you’re interested in electricity and technology in any form, then this newsletter is for you. I study and write about everything electrical from renewable energy (wind turbines, solar, bio, etc…) to best practices for EV charging, the new breed of Solar Generators, Lithium Extraction pilot plants, how to pick a backup generator for your home or RV, to what astronauts might be powering their moon base with (the ultimate boondocking trip).
One a day, for a while…
Since I currently have a backlogs of several thousand articles on dozens of topics, I can easily republish one a day for the first year and never run out of content. But I’ll also be publishing at least one new article, video or podcast per week, as well as a monthly Newsletter summary of my latest publications.

Most of this will be free content, but I’ll also publish advanced articles and videos in a special “PAID” section here for a $5 monthly fee, or $50 for a year in advance. I’ll also include a founding membership level of $210 for the first 100 of you who sign up this year, which will also include a weekly members-only “Ask the Expert” interactive Zoom meeting where you get to pick my brain on any topics you would like to discuss. The recordings of these Ask the Expert (AtE) videos will be available to all PAID members the following day. Dates and Times of these AtE session to be determined.
Great idea. I’ll start a list of new articles to write.
So Mike 'ol buddy, 'ol pal, riddle me this. Is a straight through 50 amp male to 30 amp female - say 3" length - better than a 12-15" "dogbone" adapter? Then let's take this further.... If I have a 30amp connection and a 50amp connection available for my RV, which one do I select for my 30amp coach? I know it's a no brainer if I had a 50amp coach, but does it make any difference besides the minor voltage drop due to the adapter(d) connector? Thanks, and be safe
