DON’T DO THIS!
From the RV Tips Group
Everyone!
Do not be tempted to plug your RV into any Electrical outlet that looks like this. It’s a welder outlet, not an RV outlet!
Note that is says 30A 250V on the faceplate. That’s means if can supply 30 amperes of current, but at 240 volts ONLY. There’s no neutral conductor so it’s not possible for it to supply the 120-volts needed by your RV.
Here’s how all RV outlets must be wired….
If an outlet doesn’t look like and measure as I show above, then DO NOT plug your RV shore power cord into it, no matter WHAT kind adapter you might make. Doing so will send 240 Volts into your RV’s 120-Volt electrical system, frying a lot of expensive stuff.
Hey watch this!
You’ll want to confirm the correct voltage on any outlet before you plug your RV into it. So here’s a quick video on how to use a multimeter to measure AC voltage. Just be sure to set the meter to 600 Volts AC since you could be measuring as much as 240 volts!
Let’s play safe out there… Mike
Why do you not show the wiring diagram for the welder plug? That would make it clear.
