Dangerous or Useless RV Gadgets…
Please comment about what you’ve seen advertised or purchased 🥺
Everyone,
Next week I’ll be doing a webcast with Chris Dougherty about dangerous or useless RV gadgets. I’ll also include a few of my favorite scams.
And while I cover mostly electrical power items like Tesla adapters or generator suicide cords, I’ve also done an occasional foray into obvious scams like cow magnets in your gas tank, magic spark plugs, or even OBD2 tuners that supposedly improve gas mileage. Hint: They all do NOTHING!
What are your favorite dangerous or useless RV products?
For example, a while ago I saw an advertisement for a 10,000-Watt television sound bar at the low price of $23. But don’t upgrade your RV sound system with this since my spidey sense tells me it’s probably less than a few dozen watts and sounds terrible!
What else have you seen?
Please post about any other dangerous or useless RV products in the comments, and I’ll include them in a future article or webcast.
And while SubStack doesn’t allow you to post pictures directly, please feel free to post a complete description, and email your pictures and links to me at mike@noshockzone.org with the subject Useless.
UPDATES
I’m pretty sure a 230-watt heater is going to be pretty ineffective on defrosting a large windshield…
Let’s play safe out there… Mike
Plugin rodent repellent. There is a guy on YouTube that has tested them all. None are effective. Those annoying little critters will literally stand right beside these devices and eat.
Elon Musk plugin electricity saver. Spoiler: Musk did not invent, design, manufacture or promote these worthless devices. He has nothing to do with them. I don't know how they get away with saying that he does.
Lately I have been seeing many RV parks replacing cable TV with streaming over wifi. I don't think I have gotten a good enough signal to effectively stream at any of these parks even when there has been a repeater less than 50 ft away. Wifi amplifier? I have what is supposed to be a good one. Not effective. I end up using my cell phone as a hot spot. That works.
