Everyone,
Since the temperature has dropped I’ve received a number of inquiries about 12-volt electric blankets and warming pads.
Read my previous article about 120-volt electric blanket battery usage on an inverter below…
What about 12-volt heated mattress pads?
These look really interesting. Rated max current is listed as 6.2 amperes at 12 volts, but total battery Ah usage will be dependent on your actual power setting and how long it’s left on at night..
Testing, testing…
I’m asking for a review sample to determine actual energy usage, but if you’re willing to do some advance field testing you can purchase one on Amazon HERE and report your battery Ah usage data below.
Some of the products above have affiliate links. This means that, at zero cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through the link and finalize a purchase. But feel free to find your best deal anywhere you like.
Let’s stay warm out there… Mike
Check the reviews for this item on Amazon. A lot of people report extremely hot plugs and controllers. In fact, once reported the plug was so hot, that when he pulled the plug out, it burned him and melted the mattress. I'm probably not going to try this item.
I have always thought that having the heat under you was much more efficient that having it on top of you. While I have not had the 12v version I have used 120v heated mattress pads before to preheat the bed. 15-30 min before entry and I always turn them off before I get in.
